"Hunter Best shines in Late Model feature"

Second generation driver, Hunter Best drove his Warrior racer around pole sitter Josh Henry on the first lap to set sail and win the Nesmith late model feature. Best quickly darted out to a comfortable lead charting identical lap speeds to cut the 2009 points advantage away from second place finisher Josh Henry. After the race, Best was again met in victory lane by Dad and mentor Roger. Veteran Steve Jones came home third as Brad Coffey rallied to finish fourth. Jamison Settlemyre rounds out the top five.
Morristown, TN driver Vic "The Thrill" Hill won the Tennessee Thunder Series feature from the pole in a very exciting Super Late model event. Hill jumped out early to a sizeable lead only to have lapped traffic and a steaming Randy "Dreamweaver" Weaver play a role in the outcome. Midway through the race, a backstretch accident including home town favorite Tommy Kerr brought out a caution enabling Weaver to cool his tires and challenge Hill for the large pay day. With five laps remaining, Weaver began to carve into Hill's lead working the upper groove. On the final lap, Hill and Weaver were side by side coming out of turn four having to maneuver around lapped traffic. Hill chose the low groove and Weaver the higher sandwiching the slower car with Hill nosing out the win in a photo finish. National Hall of Fame legend, Ronnie Johnson pleased his fans with a third place effort. 2008 Track champion, Mark Vineyard raced home in fourth while Billy Ogle Jr. padded his Thunder Series points lead finishing fifth.
Kendall White won the Modified Minis from the pole. Points leader Jason Carter placed second and Jason Ritchey rounds out the top three.
Crowd favorite, Joshua Moore found his winning way once again in the Mini Late Model for win number five.
Darrick York won his first career feature in the Tennessee RV Sportsman from the pole. The victory though did not come easy. Brandon Williams took the lead early from outside the first row. Halfway through the race lapped cars began to determine the eventual winner. With Williams leading, a slower driver allowed York to slide by Williams to claim the checkered flag. Adam Beeler and Sammie Russell finished third and fourth respectively. Mark Rosner had to start last, but battled to a decent fifth spot.
Jonathan Sims won the Street Stock from the pole. 2008 champion Quinn Bender placed second as Jeff McLemore maintained his points lead in third.
Michael Courtney won the Mini Stock from the outside pole. Tom Vann, Paul Birchfield, David Benson and Allan Collins rounds out the top five.
Tammy White won her first pole in the Pure Minis, but had to settle for a fine second place showing. Tony Dunkley won the event to seal his 2009 track championship. Don Patterson debuted in third with Ray White and Ronnie Bibbins covering the top five finishers.
Mountain Raceway will return to action Sep, 19th.
